A clear account of the personal data Jhakaas uses, why we use it, the choices available to you, and how to reach us.

Effective 30 August 2026

Who we are and scope

Jhakaas Digital Pvt. Ltd. operates the Jhakaas streaming service, website, mobile applications, advertiser portal, and related support and business services. In this policy, “Jhakaas”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Jhakaas Digital Pvt. Ltd.

This policy applies when you browse our public pages, create or use a viewer or advertiser account, watch content, interact with advertising, contact support, or otherwise use a Jhakaas service. Where applicable under Indian data-protection law, Jhakaas Digital Pvt. Ltd. is the data fiduciary for personal data for which it determines the purpose and means of processing.

Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use Jhakaas, we may collect the following categories:

  • Identity and contact data: name, email address, phone number, date of birth or age, gender, and account identifiers.
  • Authentication data: one-time-password records, session tokens, login events, and security information used to protect your account. We do not ask you to share an OTP with our support team.
  • Profile and location data: state, district, location preferences, IP-derived area, and—only where requested and permitted—device location or related location signals.
  • Device and technical data: device make and model, operating environment, device or app identifiers, IP address, diagnostic information, and similar technical signals.
  • Viewing and interaction data: searches, watch progress, viewing sessions, episode completion, likes or dislikes, watchlists, offline-download records, and content preferences.
  • Consent and preference data: your choices for terms, privacy, content personalisation, analytics, advertising personalisation, and location insights, including when a choice was granted or withdrawn.
  • Advertising data: ads shown, delivery and interaction events, campaign or lead-form responses you choose to submit, and privacy-protected audience or campaign reporting.
  • Rewards and transaction data: reward points, ledger entries, payment or billing references, purchase status, refunds, and related financial records. Payment-card data may be handled directly by a payment provider rather than stored by Jhakaas.
  • Support and communications data: enquiries, complaint details, support-ticket history, replies, and voice notes or attachments you intentionally provide.
  • Advertiser and business data: business contact details, company name, GSTIN or tax-status documentation, campaign information, creatives, billing records, and workspace activity.

Where the data comes from

  • From you, when you register, update a profile, set preferences, submit a form, make a payment, or contact us.
  • From your device and use of the service, when Jhakaas records technical, security, viewing, download, and interaction events.
  • From service providers, such as payment, cloud infrastructure, email-delivery, security, or analytics providers.
  • From business users, when an authorised advertiser or organisation creates or administers a workspace involving you.
  • From lawful public or verification sources, where needed to validate business, tax, fraud-prevention, or compliance information.

Why we use personal data

We use personal data for the specific purposes described below:

  • create and secure accounts, send OTPs, manage sessions, and prevent unauthorised access;
  • deliver streaming, search, watch progress, downloads, rewards, support, advertiser, and billing features;
  • remember language, accessibility, display, and other service preferences;
  • personalise content, measure service use, derive audience insights, or personalise advertising when the relevant choice or another lawful basis applies;
  • select, deliver, measure, review, and protect advertising campaigns;
  • process payments, maintain transaction records, reconcile accounts, and manage refunds or disputes;
  • answer enquiries, investigate complaints, and provide customer or advertiser support;
  • detect abuse, fraud, security incidents, technical failures, and breaches of our terms;
  • maintain, troubleshoot, analyse, and improve Jhakaas; and
  • comply with applicable law, enforce agreements, and respond to lawful requests.

How we share personal data

We may share relevant data, limited to what is reasonably needed, with:

  • Service providers that support cloud hosting, content delivery, email, communications, analytics, security, customer support, payment processing, and business operations.
  • Advertisers and partners when you intentionally submit a lead form or ask us to share information, and through campaign reporting designed to use aggregated, grouped, or otherwise privacy-protected information where appropriate.
  • Your organisation if you use an advertiser or business workspace administered by that organisation.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, prevent fraud, or address a dispute.
  • A successor organisation in connection with a proposed or completed merger, financing, reorganisation, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not treat your personal data as content that advertisers may freely browse.

Cookies, local storage, and similar technology

Jhakaas uses cookies, app storage, and similar technology to keep you signed in, protect sessions, remember preferences, retain local watch or download state, and support service operation. Optional analytics or advertising-related processing follows the consent controls described above. Blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in or other requested features from working.

How long we retain data

We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain security and audit records, or meet legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations. Retention varies by record type and context.

When data is no longer required, we take steps to delete, anonymise, or securely isolate it, subject to backups, fraud-prevention needs, legal holds, and records that applicable law requires us to retain.

How we protect data

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data and the service, including access controls, protected authentication, monitoring, and controls for our systems and service providers. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please protect your account, never share an OTP, and contact us if you suspect misuse.

Your rights and requests

Subject to applicable law and verification, you may ask us to:

  • provide information about personal data we process and relevant sharing;
  • correct, complete, or update inaccurate personal data;
  • erase personal data that is no longer required, unless retention is legally permitted or required;
  • withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent;
  • address a privacy grievance; or
  • record a nomination where that right applies.

Email support@jhakaastv.com with the subject “Privacy request”, or use our contact form and select Privacy request. We may ask for information needed to verify that the request relates to you. You may also manage optional consent choices in the Jhakaas app.

Children and younger viewers

Jhakaas is not intended to be used by a child to create an independent account where parental or guardian involvement is required by applicable law. Parents and guardians should supervise younger viewers and contact us if they believe a child has provided personal data without the required permission. We will review verified requests and take appropriate action.

Processing across locations

Our service providers and technical systems may process data from locations outside your state or country. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we take steps intended to use service providers and safeguards consistent with applicable Indian law and any transfer restrictions in force.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here, update the effective date, and provide additional notice where a change materially affects your choices or where applicable law requires it.
